• Monday through Friday - 7:30 am to last-scheduled pick-up/drop-off, or 7:00 pm
• Saturday - 7:30 am to 3:00 pm
• Sunday - 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm
* Please allow for at least 20 minutes to check in your pet. We understand you are on your way out of town, but we need to ask you questions to help us give the proper care to your pet. Our staff gets here before we open, but we are not ready to check in your pet until the hours we have posted. Please wait patiently outside until we are ready to receive you. This will ensure that you pet receives the best care possible.
A Letter from Mike & Judy
September, 2012
Dear Valued Customer,
As we complete our 3rd summer of ownership, we continue to look for ways we can better serve you, as well as improve our facility. So far in 2012, we have completed the upgrade of all 3 of our heat pumps to make sure all of our pets are warm in the winter. We installed artificial turf in our main play area, used for doggie day care, to ensure dogs stay clean even on rainy days. We remodeled our guest bathroom, and added a Dutch door to our office to allow greater access to the owners, Mike & Judy. We continued rehabing our dog runs, and purchased new floors for the runs so we can keep dogs warm and dry in the winter time.
In addition, we continue to strengthen our position within the rescue community, providing free shelter for select rescue groups including Wayside Waifs, T.A.R.A., Angels Left Behind, and others. We will once again host a Low-Cost Shot Clinic on Saturday October 6th, with proceeds going to Help Humane in Belton. Details of this event and an upcoming adoption event are below.
Unfortunately, costs continue to skyrocket. The increases in cost to heat and cool the facility, the increases in health care costs, and just the overall increase in all costs force us into a position where we have to raise boarding rates. In addition to these increases, we’ve seen a 20% increase in dog food pricing this year due to the impact the hot summer had on the corn crop. We’re sure you’ll be seeing this as well when you go out to buy your pets food this month. Therefore, we can no longer provide food at no charge. Despite the price increase that goes into place October 1st, 2012, we remain the value leader amongst pet boarding facilities that offer similar accommodations and play. We analyzed this increase very carefully and firmly believe that not only does it afford us the ability to keep up with the rising cost of overhead, it also gets us to a point where we can finally start adding additional benefits for our loyal customers. Effective immediately, we will offer a 10% discount on boarding for Senior Citizens and US Military personnel, both active and veterans. We continue to pursue a loyalty program similar to most hotel chains, and hope to have it in place by next spring. Look for details in the coming months. Finally, we are also going to be expanding our retail offerings, starting with Halloween collars and leashes. We will only bring products that are unique and provide value to you, the pet owner. We will look to capitalize on the number of pictures we take of your pets and start offering coffee mugs, cell phone and tablet cases, calendars, and key chains personalized with your pet’s picture on them. Every one of our 57 indoor/outdoor oversized dog runs has its' own personal patio area so dogs can enjoy fresh air. On nice days, we utilize our 3.2 acres of land to allow dogs to run and play with other dogs. We have special sections for smaller dogs, as well as a senior area for dogs who can’t play as fast as they once could. Some dogs just prefer to be left alone. No worries, one of our K9 concierges will be happy to provide one-on-one playtime for those dogs who march to their own drummer. On very cold or very hot days, all dogs will play in our Doggie Day Care indoor facility.
And let’s not forget our feline friends! Man’s Best Friend is the perfect place to leave your cat. Our temperature-controlled cattery allows cats to be cats. We have special beds and toys, so cats can get plenty of exercise during their stay. Our window suite is perfect for that special cat who thinks a nap in the sun is the ideal weekend getaway.
At Man’s Best Friend Pet Resort, we love all pets. Every pet will get a pat on their back and a kiss on the nose before we say goodnight. Our goal is to give your pet the same love and attention that your pet gives you. In short, Man’s Best Friend Pet Resort will become your pets' home away from home. Don’t be surprised if, after a couple of stays with us, your pet starts dropping hints of vacation getaways for you, just so they can return to the fun and frolic of Man’s Best Friend Pet Resort.
